Do you ever see a post on social media and you immediately think, "Man, I gotta watch/eat/buy/head there as soon as possible?" well that's exactly what happened to my mom in 2015 when saw a post advertising a newly opened French bakery and café on facebook.
Although it's snuggled in between a spa and a doctors office on Westheimer and Chimney rock, Flo Paris is anything but obscure. One of the things that I particularly enjoy about this place, is the set up. As soon as you walk in you can choose to do one of two things: reserve a table for you and your crew or head straight to the food bar to look over the menu and place your order. For the past year or so, the only dish I've ordered is their grilled chicken sandwich (pictured above). Yes, I am one of those people that always gets the same thing...please don't judge me. In my defense though, this plate makes my mouth water every single time. Unlike the sandwiches they have on the display case, this one is a hot one, stuffed with bacon, avocado, garlic mayo and of course the chicken. The chips and salad to the side add a nice touch and tie in the dish together. As you can tell the serving is HUGE, so if you opt for this one make sure you bring an appetite to match the meal you are about to devour.
Last month, I decided on a strawberry banana nutella crepe and to be honest it tasted just like you would think it would. You can't really go wrong with these, the recipe is simple and straightforward, a fool proof dish for someone who has trouble stepping out of their comfort zone.
If you still have some room in your tummy (I don't know how though considering the serving sizes of them sandwiches..) or you were looking for something small then head straight over to the food bar and get your self a cute little cupcake or mousse cake...or tart pastry...or cake slice..? I wouldn't blame you if decided to get every single thing behind the counter because I've been trying to do that for the past year. Flo Paris have been able to master something that still haunts other bakeries: balancing their ingredients that in turn prevent the pastry from becoming too dry, too sweet or too tart.
Whether you are catching up with some friends over a cup of tea with a slice of cake or going for a full out meal, Flo Paris will satisfy you to your heart's content and keep you coming back for more.
